The "Board-to-Board" event organised by Monitor as
part of the application to become a Foundation Trust is widely
accepted as one of the most difficult and stressful parts of the
process. Our "Mock Board-to-Board" programme has been designed to
help you prepare and to ensure your Board delivers a credible and
impressive performance.
The Board-to-Board event with Monitor has become infamous for
its direct and potentially bruising style. The Board is rigorously
and relentlessly tested for its knowledge of the Integrated
Business Plan, its suitability to direct an NHS Foundation Trust
and its workings as a unitary Board. Primed by lengthy
investigations and enquiries, the Monitor team is well-briefed and
takes no prisoners.
Our approach is not only valued by clients but has also helped them
to be successful in the real thing. The Mock Board-to-Board is the
start of a development and coaching process. It mimics Monitor's
process as closely as possible but within the sight of an
experienced observer who can then facilitate feedback and steer the
Board (or individual members) through an appropriate developmental
programme.
With staff that have had direct experience of working for Monitor
on the real thing, HLSP and partners were among the first to
develop a mock Board to Board package and have now honed this to a
high degree. Our people include nationally recognised experts who
have been responsible for preparing many of the policies and
principles underpinning effective governance and Board working in
the NHS.
