HLSP has broad experience working for governments and for
bilateral and multilateral development agencies throughout the
Latin America and the Caribbean regions.
We have held or successfully concluded major health sector
development and reform projects in Chile, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia and
Ceará (Brazil), mainly through funding provided by DFID. We have
also delivered smaller scale interventions in Trinidad &
Tobago, Anguilla, Jamaica, Belize, Guyana, Honduras and Guatemala.
In Nicaragua we are currently providing technical assistance to the
Ministry of Health to implement a SWAp.
Our main interventions in all these countries have related
to:
- health sector reform, policy and strategy implementation, and
change management;
- health services management, including primary health care
development, hospital management, design and development of IT
systems, contracting and performance management;
- communicable disease control and country level responses to the
HIV
and AIDS epidemic;
- health financing, introduction of health insurance and
management of the Official Development Assistance through Sector-wide
Approaches, budget support and other innovative
mechanisms;
- programme management and design of interventions aimed at
poverty reduction including PRSPs;

monitoring and evaluation studies.
