Performance monitoring frameworks in the health sector: indicators, review processes and critical analysis from eleven countries

This resource explores different models, types and components of sector monitoring frameworks and sector review processes in use in different countries, with a focus on the health sector. A review paper looks at the main approaches used and at lessons learned, and country notes (with supporting documentation) provide practical examples.

Contents

  • A critical review of approaches, issues and lessons from the experience of 11 countries.
  • Descriptive country notes, with links to key documents showing how sector monitoring is defined and applied in practice, including sector strategic plans or health programmes, codes of conduct or memoranda of understanding, and examples of sector monitoring reports, sector annual reviews or final evaluation reports.
  • The countries examined are: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Tanzania, Uganda, West Bengal (India) and Zambia.
