Effective development assistance: a guide to sector wide approaches

2006 (CD-ROM)

This CD-ROM aims to familiarise you with sector wide approaches (SWAps) and help you make the most of the opportunities they present. It draws mostly from health sector examples, and is designed for both those with no prior experience of SWAps, and for those who wishing to build on existing knowledge.

What does it cover?
The CD provides a comprehensive overview of a SWAp as an aid instrument, its aims and key components. It looks at how SWAps differ from other aid instruments, at the different ways of working they require, and at the issues that might emerge in relation to poverty reduction strategies, decentralisation, existing projects, and global health partnerships.

The CD contains exercises and activities, a country case study and reference materials.

Who is it for?
This learning tool is mainly intended for agency staff involved in the design or implementation of sector programmes. It will also be useful to officials in partner governments, consultants, and anyone wishing to learn how to design, manage and implement sector programmes.

How to order
E-mail us at institute@hlsp.org. The CD is free of charge (please note that we may apply a charge for large orders).
