Mainstreaming AIDS in development instruments and processes at the national level: a review of experiences
UNAIDS, UNDP and the World Bank, September 2005
Commissioned by UNAIDS and UNDP, in 2005 the HLSP Institute carried out a review of experiences with integrating AIDS in poverty reduction strategies. The review analyses the AIDS content of national development instruments, the process by which mainstreaming is being introduced, and the range and impact of technical support efforts for mainstreaming to date.
The report was part of a broader review of lessons learned about support to mainstreaming AIDS in national development, which has also included the sectoral and local levels. Its findings and recommendations have informed the joint UNAIDS/UNDP/WB programme to support countries with the integration of AIDS in their PRSPs, which the three agencies have set up in execution of Global Task Team recommendation 1.2.
The report is available in English and French from the UNAIDS website:
The HLSP Institute also contributed to the development of an electronic library of over 500 documents to support multi-sectoral responses, which was distributed at the 14th International Conference on HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) held in December 2005 in Abuja, Nigeria. An expanded, web-based version will be made available in 2006 by UNAIDS. |
