The Support to Safe Motherhood Programme (SSMP) worked directly with the Government of Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population to support the SSMP. HLSP was one of three consortium partners managing SSMP. HLSP prepared a detailed design and outline cost plan for a five-year programme of support to the Nepal National Safer Motherhood Project. This encompassed management support and capacity building to appropriate divisions within the Department of Health services, the provision of technical assistance at central and district levels to extend emergency obstetric services, and addressing demand-side issues throughout Nepal.
