HLSP was contracted to take over management of the Multi-sectoral HIV and AIDS Support Programme (MSP). The MSP supports the priorities of the Government of South Africa’s National Strategic Plan by:

• strengthening HIV prevention through public, private and civil society programmes
• increasing access to packages of treatment, care and support
• strengthening M&E and research systems, and capacity building

The first phase of the programme ended in December 2008. By then the programme had supported over 170 projects across South Africa, helping the government, civil society, private sector and communities work together for more effective action against HIV.

MSP partners comprise the national and provincial departments of health, social development, education and defence together with the private sector South Africa Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS.
