Region: Africa
Country: Rwanda
Client: UNAIDS
Date: 2010
Produced by HLSP, this case study examines evidence of linkages between investments in the AIDS response and progress towards the other health Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Rwanda. Key findings include:
- Investments in the scale-up of Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission and paediatric antiretroviral drugs are likely to have made important contributions to the reduction of child mortality.
- The AIDS response may have contributed to the 25% reduction in Maternal Mortality Ratios between 2000 and 2005 in the countrty.
- Evidence indicates that AIDS investments have contributed to prevention and mitigation of violence against women.
