Review of National AIDS Commissions

HLSP assessed the National AIDS Commissions (NACs) in 16 countries in the Middle East and North Africa region to explore experiences and challenges of leading and co-ordinating multi-sector responses to HIV and AIDS.
HLSP's focus was on four areas:
- governance and institutional structures
- NACs' functions and capacities
- operational issues
- harmonisation, alignment and financing
HLSP identified country specific recommendations to revitalise national responses and support the effective implementation of policies. The countries were: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, North Sudan, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.
