HLSP undertook an impact assessment of the Behaviour Change Communication Programme for HIV Prevention in Zimbabwe, which aims to reduce the risk of sexual transmission of HIV by supporting and strengthening the overall national response to HIV and AIDS. The programme aims to improve access to products and services related to HIV, reduce stigma and build the capacity of local service providers.
The assessment team analysed the programme’s ability to meet its stated objectives; the results will inform the future direction of DFID HIV funding in Zimbabwe. Specifically, it examined the programme’s potential impact on health; its cost effectiveness and opportunities, challenges, innovations and lessons learned.
