Health systems analysis: building the evidence base to support decisions on a future health sector program in Bangladesh

HLSP was selected to produce a health system analysis to inform future health sector strategies and policies in Bangladesh.

The overall aim of the assignment was to document how the health system works in practice in terms of equity, access and quality, also considering impacts on health outcomes, especially among the poor.

The analysis offers a comprehensive profile of the overall health system, based as much as possible on verifiable facts. It covers a number of thematic areas including governance, financing, procurement, human resources, health information and monitoring and evaluation. 

In a separate report, HLSP also investigated the health system at the sub-district (Upazila) level and below, identifying constraints in health service delivery and options to address bottlenecks.
