The HLSP Institute
The Institute is HLSP’s knowledge centre. Through its publications and learning products, the HLSP Institute contributes to global health policy and debate, professional development and technical excellence.
Policy analysis and debate
We inform policy and debate on global health issues and national health systems. Our research and contributions are informed by practical experience gained from HLSP country and global level work, and benefit from the input and collaboration of southern partners.
We monitor trends in the health sector, identify important issues and analyse policy. We do this through commissioned work for clients as well as through our own publications and projects.
Professional development
We develop innovative and user-friendly training and technical resources for health policy advisers and programme managers. Recent clients include United Nations and bilateral agencies.
Maintaining HLSP’s technical excellence
We communicate lessons learnt from HLSP’s wider experience in long and short-term consultancy with global and national clients. We ensure that this experience is shared and used to maintain the quality of HLSP’s consulting work.
Who we are
The Institute’s Technical Director is Ken Grant. Our team includes Nel Druce, Clare Dickinson, Emma Denton, Martine Donoghue, Adrienne Chattoe-Brown, Javier Martinez, Mark Pearson, Claudia Sambo and Catriona Waddington.
The HLSP Institute was formed when the Institute for Health Sector Development (IHSD) merged with HLSP in April 2005, building on IHSD’s reputation and experience.
